Mango's Daddy
Mango’s Daddy has been writing and recording songs since the 1970s. Originally from the tiny state of Delaware, Mr. Daddy moved to Los Angeles and formed a folk rock trio called the Rockin’ Jamokes. The Jamokes had a unique vocal sound and played college concerts featuring covers of songs by the Grateful Dead, Jethro Tull, James Taylor, Loggins and Messina, and J.D. Souther.
In the 1980s Mr. Daddy collaborated with Los Angeles songwriter and recording artist Peter Marston - a collaboration which yielded over thirty pop and rock songs. Also in the 1980s Mr. Daddy was a member of the duo Shtillson and Govatinberg who wrote and recorded musical parodies featured on a syndicated radio program starring Dr. Demento. These songs included “Kinky Kinda Cowboy”, “Don’t Worry, Go Shopping”, and “Dog Doo on the Sole of My Shoe”.
In the 1990s Mr. Daddy collaborated with lyricist, poet, and teacher Scott Davison (currently of Dallas, Texas) and together they wrote songs which Mango’s Daddy recorded and released in 2019. These songs include “I’m Not the Only One”, “Cartwheeling Away”, “Don’t Fade Away”, and “The Ring” and they can all be found along with his other new releases on his SoundCloud page. @mangosdaddy
After a long hiatus Mr. Daddy reignited his passion for songwriting and recording after studying with music industry professionals at UCLA. His songs feature a unique mix of vocal folk, rock and jazz.
Named for his beloved cat Mango, his musical mission is to write sweet and tangy tunes.
